Website design and build

Your website is often the first impression someone has of your business.

That’s why it’s imperative it looks professional, is functional, and is consistent with your brand.

I can help you with a totally new website or update your existing website.

How do you build a website?

I generally follow these steps:

  1. Research – identify your preferences regarding functionality and design
  2. Document – create a specifications document outlining how the website will work and flow
  3. Design – create a wireframe (basic design of where the elements will sit on each page)
  4. Build – start building your website
  5. Test – make sure your website does what it’s meant to
  6. Go live – your website is live!

Your ongoing feedback throughout all stages is crucial to delivering a great website.

Optimising your site for excellence

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is carefully considered during planning and building. So too is user experience, ensuring your customers can do what they need to, quickly and simply.

Populating your website

Your website is going to need great content, such as helpful written information, entertaining videos and attractive graphics. Some businesses already have that ready to go while others rely on me to do it for them.

I love creating content for websites. I have a natural way of optimising content to include the right keywords in the right amount, and linking pages together so everything flows nicely.

Thinking beyond the build

One of the biggest mistakes people make regarding a website build is not thinking about a phase 2.

In other words, a ‘build it and they will come’ approach doesn’t work.

You need to think about how you will attract customers to your site and keep them there long enough, so they convert or take a particular action.

Having great, regular content like a blog, or consistently posting interesting stuff on social media, is one way you can do that. I can help with that too.

Questions you might have about a website build
How long does it take to build a new website?

It depends on how complex it is and how quickly you can provide feedback along the way.

A small site may take 4 weeks while a bigger site may take 10 weeks.

How long does it take to update an existing website?

It depends on what you want done. For example, adding a blog to your website would take longer than changing the colour scheme.

Once I know what you want, work can commence straight away.

How much does it cost?

Like the last two questions, it depends! No two websites are the same.

Once I know what you want, I can quote on the work.

On which platform do you build websites?

For a new website I recommend WordPress. The content management system (CMS), which you will use to update the site after it goes live, is relatively user friendly.

Plus, there are plenty of WordPress developers out there. This makes it better for you in the long run.

Am I 'stuck' to you once the website is built?

Absolutely not. Unlike other marketing agencies, you’re not tied to me in any way (though you will probably love my service and want to stay!).

One of the advantages of WordPress is that you can take your website with you.
